Mantis Fast Glass review

Here is a review I wrote sometime back but forgot to post up. I have been trying out the new glass cleaner from the Mantis Car Care range called Fast Glass.

This new product from JML promises a "crystal clear, smear-free finish on glass and plastic windows”. As a marketer, I am aware of all the unsubstantiated claims that companies make about their products and I was sceptical. However, it did just what it claims - just sprayed the windscreen and wiped it off. See the result below.

I also wanted to test the claims that it creates a "rain-resistant shield".

It was the Easter break and we were driving to the Scottish highlands. As some of you might recall, the weather was really strange and we had light rain and sleet most of the way. Perfect way to test out the claim. On the motorway I did not even have to use the wiper as the rain drops just slid away from the glass. I have to point out that we did not have heavy rain then but it does work even under very wet conditions, though I did have to use the wipers as well. I am definitely going to keep using this windshield glass cleaner/ water repellent.

I only have one complaint. It is with regards to the quality of their spray mechanism. I am not sure why but the liquid kept leaking out when I sprayed and in the end, I  transferred it to an empty Dettol cleanser spray bottle I had at home.

Mantis Fast Glass is available here in the UK for £9.99

Waterless car cleaner and polisher for alloys

Its been raining on and off the past couple of days but the hose pipe ban is still on in several parts of the UK. If you want to wash your own cars, the Mantis waterless car cleaners would be ideal.

The guys at JML Direct sent me over some more of their great products - this time the Mantis Perfect Wheels – a car cleaner and polisher for alloys. This waterless alloy cleaner promises to be tough on your grubby wheels and gentle and as it is non-acidic, it won’t damage your wheels or your driveway.
So I followed the directions - I first sprayed the rims and left the foam to work into the dirt and brake dust. I used the Mantis Wheel Brush to loosen and remove the dirt and grime.
After a few minutes I wiped it off and then buffed the rims with  with the Mantis Microfibre Mitt .

Perfect Wheels works for all wheel types including chrome, alloy, steel and even wheel covers. You can get Mantis Perfect Wheels (£9.99) and the Mantis Wheel Brush (£7.99) from ASDA and online at www.mantis-performance.com.

Mantis Waterless Car Cleaners

A couple of weeks back I received some samples of a new car cleaning products from the guys at JML.

The unique feature about these car cleaning products is that it's water free - yes, that's right. This was ideal for me as I do not have a driveway and I am not really keen on washing the car on the pavement carrying bucket loads of water and soap.

They sent me the Mantis Instant Shine, the Mantis Scratch Remover and the twin pack microfibre towels - one for application and another for buffing.

The Mantis Instant Shine combines a wash, polish and wax and has a fabulous fruity fragrance. It retails at £9.99 from is available on the Mantis site, in ASDA and few other places as well.

I had a slight problem when I roughly pulled the paper cover and some parts of the spray mechanism came off (see pic). However, I was able to  put it back and works all fine.

I followed the instructions and sprayed the liquid over the bonnet of my car (which had been unwashed for a few weeks) and left it on for a few minutes. I then wiped it clean with the supplied application towels and polished the cleaned surface using the buffing towel.

Check out my car bonnet - the left side (top in picture) has not been cleaned while the right (bottom in picture) has been cleaned and buffed. Though not very clear from the photograph, there was a clear visible difference.

I also tried out the Mantis Scratch Remover on some of the scratches on my car. Key scratches on door locks and shoe scuffs can seriously dent your car’s resale value. As directed, I applied the paste to the affected area and rubbed it in a circular motion until my arms ached.

However, it did not do much for the deeper scratches on my car bonnet. I found that it works best with the light scratches  (as shown below). The light scratches are barely visible afterwards.

The scratch remover also retails at £9.99 on  the Mantis site and is also available in a few other stores including ASDA.

This water free cleaning kit is ideal for guys like me who hate hauling buckets of water and soap to clean their cars on the pavements (sidewalk in the US).

Over 500,000 units of Mantis Instant Shine has been sold in the UK and I am not surprised.
